3 WAYS TO HYDRATE DRY SKIN

Fall is an excellent time for routines and settling into the indoor nesting time and focusing on streamlining habits as we say goodbye to the warmth of summer. I don't know about you but fall is the second most significant time of the year to set new focus, goals and intentions. We want to lose the summer weight, get back into healthy habits, and get organized with our productivity and routines that parallel September.

I see many clients who are anxious to get focused on their skin and treatments. While the tan is fading, I am here to tell you that this is a fabulous time to kick start skincare routines that may have been less consistent and address the natural damage incurred from enjoying our beautiful summer.

That being said, it is not the time to feel guilty or cast self-blame on the summer skin stress you may have accidentally allowed to happen. My mindset is always to look forward, so I love it when clients are ready to address the summer sun damage and reinstate or begin a skincare routine for the upcoming fall and winter seasons.

After all, all that wonderful vitamin D and the wellness that comes from fresh air and summer gatherings, especially after our crazy COVID spring is understandable. But unfortunately, all that hot summer weather, even for the most diligent of SPF users, does take a toll on our skin. As your golden tan fades, sunspots may be appearing. That hyperpigmentation is a direct result of the dry, weathered skin after a long hot summer. While dry skin is common after a long hot summer, dehydrated skin is a condition that needs attention. Dehydrated skin can be relieved with various things, including lifestyle changes, treatments and intentional routines.

My three best recommendations to address the immediate sun damage and the aging process due to sun exposure long term are very simple.

1. PRIORITIZE MEDICAL-GRADE SKIN CARE.

You may want to rush into the Powder Room to experience a treatment to help your skin appearance (and trust me, we love to see you), but the most critical piece of looking fresh and youthful is committing to a medical-grade skincare regiment. There is no aesthetic procedure available that can accomplish long term what a skincare program can. Skincare products bought over the counter will not have the optimum % of actives and strength required to change and turn over skin cells. Medical-grade skincare is power-packed with actives. And although a medical treatment (Neurotoxins or Fillers) can do a natural enhancement to your skin, any treatment's results are far more significant if complemented with a skincare program.

2. CONSIDER A BEAUTY BOOSTER

Dry skin is the most highly reported issues we hear about after a summer of sun. Even the most diligent of SPF routines cannot fully protect you from the dehydration that comes from a hot summer. Boosting your complexion with a full hydration treatment is a great recovery solution after the summer months. A Beauty Booster delivers Redensity1 to replenish hydration significantly. And hydrated skin feels firmer, looks radiant and improves overall complexion from the dry and dull effects of the summer sun.

3. SOAK UP A COOL PEEL

If all of those dried out dead cells are sitting on your skin, it is difficult for anything to penetrate, even if you have invested in expensive skincare products. I love just the name of Environ's Cool Peels - they exude replenishing, revival and rejuvenation to the skin, and clients love the results and the experience! Buffing the skin surface and reviving your skin with a peel can not only improve the appearance of your skin, but will have it feeling healthy and your skin thirst-quenched.
